Welcome to a glimpse into the daily routine at 9to5 software. We'll take you through a day in the life of Floris, our dedicated backend developer!
Floris starts his day at 09:00, but he's often found at his desk even earlier. Monday mornings kick off with a team meeting in our office, where we discuss individual and departmental updates, known as our weekly kick-off! On other days, this stand-up is conducted online. After this, Floris dives straight into his tasks, closely collaborating with clients and tackling challenges in our backend systems. As a backend developer, his expertise lies in solving complex issues behind the scenes to ensure our software runs smoothly.
Throughout the day, Floris participates in meetings and retrospectives, sharing insights and ideas with his colleagues. However, at 9to5 software, we aim to minimize corporate overhead, so lengthy, often uninteresting meetings are not the norm. Collaboration, on the other hand, is central to our culture. We believe in leveraging the collective knowledge and expertise of our team to drive innovation. Collaboration also means quickly and efficiently addressing incoming issues, a skill at which Floris excels.
Around 12:30 PM, it's time for a well-deserved break. Our entire team gathers for lunch provided by 9to5 software. They enjoy a delicious meal while discussing everything from industry trends to weekend plans. After lunch, Floris and his colleagues take a stroll through the charming streets of Delft. Back at the office, they approach the remaining tasks with renewed energy.
At 3:30 PM, Floris takes a break to refuel with a protein shake, but a coffee works just as well—anything to ensure he remains productive throughout the day.
During the week, tasks are typically wrapped up between 5:00 and 5:30 PM, but as the week progresses, we have more enjoyable afternoons planned. Every Thursday at 4:30 PM, the team gathers for the weekly DemoDo (Demo Thursday), showcasing the latest updates and developments in our software products. Fridays are reserved for the cherished tradition of "vrijmibo" (Friday drinks), where colleagues relax and socialize over drinks, sometimes extending the fun to the pubs of Delft.
